Twas the Night
Twas the night before GA4, and all through the site,
Not a metric was stirring, oh, what a fright.
The tags were all jumbled, confused in their space,
In dread of GA4, the unwelcome embrace.
The analysts were restless, their dreams filled with dread,
As visions of lost insights danced in their head.
And devs in their frustration, marketers in despair,
Anticipated GA4 with a wary glare.
When out on the web there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the dashboard, I flew like a flash,
Opened up GA4, and there was the clash.
The moon on the browser window's unsettling glow
Gave a sinister aura to the objects below.
When, what to my disillusioned eyes should appear,
But a new version of Analytics, sparking fear.
With a little old switch, so sneaky and sly,
I knew in a moment our data would cry.
More confusing than ever, the changes they came,
And it whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now UTM! now, Events! now, Triggers and Tags!
On, Conversion! on, Conversions! on, bouncing that sags!
To the top of the dashboard! to the top of the wall!
Now crumble away! crumble away! crumble away all!"
As cookies that before brought insights so sweet,
Now they vanished, leaving analysts in defeat.
So up to the interface the changes they flew,
With a sleigh full of issues, and reports untrue.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The tapping of chaos, each maddening goof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney came GA4 with a bound.
It was dressed in confusion, from head to its toe,
A bundle of troubles it had in tow.
A bundle of errors flung on its back,
It looked like a nightmare, its presence a lack.
Its eyes, how they glowered! Its UI, how scary!
Its reports were like curses, oh so wary!
Its disdainful mouth was drawn up like a frown,
And the data it gathered brought analysts down!
The stump of a cable it held tight in its teeth,
And the pixels encircled its head like a wreath.
It had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when it laughed, like a bowl full of jelly!
It spoke not a word, but went straight to its scheme,
Ruining and confusing with a malevolent beam.
And laying its finger aside of its nose,
It vanished into the night, leaving data's woes.
It sprang to its sleigh, to its team gave a sneer,
And away they all flew, spreading chaos and fear.
But I heard it exclaim, ere it faded from sight,
"Unhappy tracking to all, and to all a GA4 night!"
